As part of our cooperation with Pissed Consumer, it was brought to my attention that you expressed a concern in a posting on Pissed Consumer regarding your experience with our company.
The Better Business Bureau (BBB) records their complaints for a period of 3 years. If you look at the detailed breakdown of the complaints on their website, you will find that there are only 5 unresolved complaints against IPA. The majority of the complaints filed through the BBB are related to sales practices. Most of those complaints are prospective clients who want to be placed on our Do Not Call List. The Client Services Department maintains access to our complete company database to ensure that those clients do not receive additional phone calls. We are always striving to improve our processes, but please consider that only a very small percentage of the outbound calls made per year result in a BBB complaint.
The Internet continues to be a major source of information for people. Many people have been subject to what is called "Electronic Terrorism." Many large companies have to cope with negative press as the Internet continues to be an open forum for anyone to say anything about anyone they want. The "Communications Decency Act," passed in 1996, gives websites almost unfettered immunity, "A Web Site can publish even those claims that writers know to be false and downright malicious with no legal repercussions." If you search for negative media, you can find it on most large companies, including some of our nation’s corporate leaders like Wal-Mart, Target, IBM, and even Microsoft.
In your review you also refer to the Illinois Attorney General. Business Owners are entitled to complain and some feel compelled to make formal complaints. When a lawsuit is filed, the court will consider the validity of the complaint after the party accused has the opportunity to respond to the complaint. It seems that the Attorney General's representation of Business Owners and the accusations she has made are based on the negative Internet commentary. IPA will vigorously defend the complaint and I am confident that there will be a ruling in our favor.
Our companies include the fees for services in the Agreements for all of our engagements. We require our client's approval before and during all of the services provided in a consulting engagement. There is a cancellation clause in the IPA Agreement that allows you to cancel any day that you choose and you are only billed according to the Agreement for Services. Negative postings on the Internet about our companies do not void the contractual agreements we have with our clients.
